Vertigo teamed up with CBS Television Stations, Microsoft, and Move Networks to create a HD quality live streaming player for the Inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States of America on January 20, 2009. The Silverlight 2 player Vertigo designed and built provides a unique user experience combining:
- Live streaming of HD quality video
- Multiple camera angles (up to 7 different feeds)
- Twitter integration
- Video gallery of all of the past Inauguration speeches since FDR
The application will be rolled out to CBS Television Stations 25+ owned and operated sites which operate at the local level (for us in the Bay Area, we’ll be watching on KPIX).
Vertigo built the player to support pre-roll video ads along with companion banner ads.
To take advantage of the high definition feeds, Vertigo worked with Move Networks to use the Move Player in the Silverlight 2 application to stream the video live in HD quality.
Make sure to check out the application with your local CBS station all day during the 20th since they will be broadcasting many events with multiple camera angles throughout the day (starting at 9am EST).
